About Us
Passion for Service
Horsemanship for Heroes was co-founded by Karolyn (“K”) and Scott Hooper, two U.S. Army veterans who, after a combined 49 years of service, turned to horses to find healing from their own invisible wounds. Today, they share that power of the human-horse bond with other Veterans, emergency responders, and their families.
Their mission is rooted in gratitude, empathy, and a belief that meaningful connection with horses can foster resilience, self-awareness, and renewed purpose. The program’s guiding motto: Helping Heroes Heal.

Why It Matters
Why Horses?

Horses are intuitively honest, which makes them powerful mirrors for our emotions.

Through consistent interaction, participants develop trust, communication skills, and self-awareness

For many veterans and responders, the barn offers a safe place to decompress, process, and heal in a nonjudgmental environment.
